  4. Meanwhile, Angie Costello and Eddie Weeks get back together… again… and marry at a Justice of the Peace. The young couple decide that they want their baby back, but Janet and Fred Fleming (seen here) refuse to give up ‘their’ child.

    Eddie and Angie resort to drastic measures and kidnap the baby! On the run, the desperate couple are eventually apprehended in Chicago and are forced to give back the baby to the Flemings.

    Thanks to the concerned efforts of Dr. Steve Hardy, nurse Jessie Brewer, and their defense attorney Lee Baldwin, Eddie and Angie are only placed on probation and go on to begin a new life together.

  5. Ever gallant, Lee Baldwin offers to marry Jessie Brewer, R.N. in order to give the baby a name. They planned to wed on the day Jessie and Phil Brewer’s divorce decree became final.

    Here she is seen tending to a patient at General Hospital.

  6. When Jessie Brewer, R.N. learns she is pregnant with Phil’s baby, she confides her secret to Dr. Steve Hardy, Lucille March, R.N., and Lee Baldwin.

  7. Realizing what he had done to Jessie Brewer, R.N., Dr. Phil Brewer writes her a letter of apology and quickly leaves town.

  8. Meanwhile, Dr. Phil Brewer began to drown his sorrows in liquor. In a drunken stupor, Phil wildly headed straight to Jessie Brewer’s apartment to win her back. He then forced himself on her and raped her.

  9. Attempting to get Dr. Phil Brewer out of her system, Jessie Brewer, R.N. began to go on tentative dates with her lawyer Lee Baldwin.

    Lee was a lifelong bachelor and recovering alcoholic. He volunteered at General Hospital as an addiction counselor, making him a permanent fixture on the 7th floor.
